The Hobonichi Techo, created in collaboration with the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum, London), celebrates the much-loved Arts and Crafts patterns of William Morris and his creative companions. Drawing from the museum’s unparalleled collections, each techo combines iconic designs with the Hobonichi Techo’s signature style.
The front cover features Blackthorn wallpaper by John Henry Dearle, a close friend and collaborator of William Morris. This design celebrates spring with entwined hawthorn and blackthorn blossoms. The back features his 1912 Leicester wallpaper design, rich with stylised foliage and botanical details.
Inside, a zesty yellow interior and a woven label pen holder bears Morris’ famous words: “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
This pen holder is designed to hold a pen by its barrel. Even when you aren’t carrying a pen, the design serves as a beautiful accent to the techo cover.

About William Morris
Considered the father of modern design, William Morris (1834–96) was one of the most important artistic and literary figures of the 19th century, a key figure of the Arts and Crafts Movement and a major contributor to the V&A collection. Morris championed handcrafting and the beauty of nature in an era that was focused on industrial progress, and his fabric and wallpaper designs are a reflection of his love of wildflowers, plants and birds.
