Hiroko Kubota: Night Cherry Blossom Snow Globe · 2025 Japanese Hobonichi Techo Weeks

A snow globe is pictured on a glossy back background. Inside is a park at night with beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom. This mesmerizing and impressive scene was specially drawn for this Weeks cover by illustrator Hiroko Kubota.

A cat stands on an elephant slide, the moment frozen in time when it catches a petal from the sky. The illuminated street light shows the night-time setting inside the globe. Look closely and you’ll see the petals sparkle, as the cherry blossoms are depicted in pink foil.

The year 2025 is foil-pressed in matte silver. The back of the cover features a trail of fluttering petals, as if watching them fall in slow motion. This Weeks pairs sweetness with stillness, and is the perfect place to record your precious moments.

The book uses thin and light yet durable Tomoe River paper. This paper that underwent an overhaul with the 2024 edition techo is more resistant to bleed through, lighter despite being the same thickness, and has a smoother surface by adjusting the fibers of the paper.
